Spiritual Warfare at Planned Parenthood

While praying and engaging with the women at Planned Parenthood (PP), we experienced a challenging time spiritually. We watched many women (and some men) go into PP and we were not able to talk to or engage any of them. Some of them were clearly there to take the abortion pill with the belief this would solve their “problem”. The sad and terrible truth about their thinking is that they had a lack of regard for the human life inside of them and chose instead, to destroy their baby.

     Being at PP clarifies and amplifies the spiritual battle we are engaged in. We are soldiers involved in a battle where “the evil one”, that is Satan, desires to destroy God’s creation. Satan particularly wants to slay the pinnacle of God’s creation, human beings, because we are created in God’s image. When engaged in these spiritual battles, we quickly realize how weak we are and how important the power of prayer is as our weapon in this warfare. This battle we are engaged in is happening behind the doors of PP and only God can change the heart of that prospective mother or the abortion workers who are assisting.

     A similar spiritual battle has also taken place in a more blatant way in Israel. We saw before our very eyes, on October 7, 2023, the “destroyer” at work in a way that should have roused the moral outrage of every human being, not just Christians. By the way, having these moral sensibilities (our conscience) is part of being created in God’s image. We saw on full display the destruction of innocent human life, in a most grotesque way. We were sickened by this at so many levels, but one of the worst was the beheading of babies by Hamas. We think, “How could someone do something as heinous as this?” The ugly irony is that at the same time, there are states in our nation that allow for babies to be killed through abortion up to the time of birth. I will not detail the abortionist’s methods used to kill these human lives. You are probably familiar with the techniques, but as we think about what the abortionist does in the womb, it makes the actions by Hamas simply another page from the same book. Many of our leaders who have condemned (and rightfully so) the actions of Hamas against Israel are, at the same time, fully supportive of the actions taken against the unborn baby in the womb. The devil delights in this twisted, schizophrenic thinking.

     Whether we are at PP seeing babies in the womb being killed through the abortion pill or seeing innocent lives being killed by terrorists, the result is the same--human life is being ravaged. We have an obligation to stand for, support and pray for life. May God continue to give us the courage and confidence to know that as the battle for life continues to be waged, we are on the winning side and more importantly, on the right side.

ASIDE: On October 8, 2023 the Planned Parenthood in Gaza was destroyed as collateral damage during an airstrike by Israel. According to lifenews.com (Oct. 12, 2023), “The Planned Parenthood abortion business has sent out an emergency alert to its supporters asking for donations and complaining that women who can’t get abortions would be “forced to give birth.” Again, doesn’t the devil love this schizophrenic thinking.
